Lauren Lee Joins the Nexmo Developer Relations Team

Hello World! My name is Lauren, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Nexmo Developer Relations team.

Originally from Chicago, IL, I grew up playing ice hockey and loving deep dish pizza. Now living in Seattle, WA, I try to spend as much time outside in the mountains or underwater scuba diving as possible.

I came to the tech industry via a non-traditional route. I taught high school English & Literature for almost a decade before taking a massive leap of faith, quitting my job, and was fortunate enough to attend an incredible program for women and gender diverse folks in Seattle called Ada Developers Academy to learn to code.

Since graduating Ada, I’ve been a part of some incredible engineering teams at both Amazon and GoDaddy where I solved complex problems using React.js, React Native, and Ruby. Having met so many impressive and badass career changers, I’ve started a podcast called, We Belong Here: Lessons from Unconventional Paths to Tech. It aims to interview folks who are diversifying the industry and celebrate their unique journeys to tech.

I’m passionate about pedagogy, the art of storytelling, and making content accessible for all. I love building things, being silly and imaginative, and helping people learn along the way. Thus I’m beyond excited to take on the role of Developer Educator here at Nexmo as I’ll have the opportunity to blend my love for technology with education.

If you’d like to connect, you can find me on Twitter or the Nexmo Community Slack.
