Hi, my name’s Mark – although I’m known as Judy2k on GitHub, Twitter, and almost everywhere else. (Judy’s been a nickname of mine since university, and I’m not going to explain it!) I’m excited to start my Developer Relations career at Nexmo!

I’ve been a software developer for 20 years, these days primarily Python, but also Javascript, Java and Go. I’m heavily involved in the Python community, especially in Scotland, where I run Python Edinburgh. Outside that, I’m mainly known for trolling Python conferences by standing up and saying that Perl is better than Python. (Perl is fine by the way).

In the recent past I’ve worked for Scotland’s two unicorns, Skyscanner and FanDuel, helping build and scale services in some complex environments. Before that, I worked for a bunch of US and UK startups building everything from online business directories to software that helps diagnose Alzheimer’s from brain scans.

At Nexmo I’ll be enriching the client libraries, writing documentation and demos, and generally helping ensure you get a great development experience when using Nexmo products. This is something I’m passionate about, and I’m really looking forward to it.

In the near future, I’m going to be at ScotlandPHP in my home city of Edinburgh, and next month I’ll be at PyCon Ireland in Dublin – maybe I’ll see you there!
